Mason jars are all the rage these days and ideas for decorating them for various uses around the home and office are just about the only reason for Pinterest.
There are tutorials outlining how to paint them, tint them, turn them into candle holders, use them for storing craft supplies, use them for storing bits and bobs, or for organising your tea collection or your pantry. They are hotter than Hansel right now.
I love all the ways you can use mason jars. They’re handy. They’re practical. They’re pretty. But…
Of all the ways to use them, this is by far my favourite.
For this project, you will need:
- 3 mason jars
- 2 biscuit trays
- 1 oven
- 1 food processor or a pair of beaters
Do you see where we’re going yet?
- 125g butter, softened
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg
- 2 cups self-raising flour
Yup, it’s Vanilla Biscuits!
Preheat oven to 180c and line or grease two biscuit trays.Cream the butter, sugar and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Add the egg and beat until combined. Add the flour and mix until combined and the right texture for biscuit dough (you all know what that looks like, right?). Roll tablespoonfuls of dough in your hands, flatten a little bit and place on the trays. Bake for 15 mins or until golden. Allow to cool and then place into mason jars and label. Or just eat them all, thereby keeping the jars clean. 🙂
