I went back to work on Monday, and it’s not going brilliantly and no, I don’t especially want to talk about it right now. So instead, let’s talk about what I did on the weekend that made me feel awesome. 🙂
I had a market stall on Sunday. I packed up the hundreds of things I’ve been making into some boxes, took a couple of folding tables and a cork board, and then I packed it all onto two granny trolleys and dragged it all up the street to Adamstown markets.
It was pretty awesome. It had been raining all week and I was worried it would continue to rain on the Sunday, but the sun came out in force. It was a gorgeous day.
I used this handy corkboard as a jewellery display. I just chucked it on an easel and hung all the pretty shiny things on it.
I covered some lidded cardboard boxes with fabric to use as displays, and then to carry all the pretty things in.
All in all, it was a brilliant day. Loads of people asked if I would be coming back and all of the people were kind and polite. I loved being outside and I loved that the things I made have gone to people who really like them. I hadn’t realised how much nicer it is to sell stuff you’ve made yourself than it is to work in normal retail.
I will be going back to the markets (on the 28th of September at Adamstown, if you’re local), and making it an every week thing. I’m also going to focus more on my Etsy store, for the people who work on Sundays and the people who generally can’t make it to my market stall.
Hopefully I can make a thing out of selling the things I make, so I can cut back some hours at my regular job. How awesome would that be? 🙂
